The University of Alberta puts on numerous events for prospective students throughout the year, both on campus and in schools and communities throughout Canada.

The type of event you're looking for will depend on what stage of the admission process you are in. Please choose from one of the categories below.

Start Here: Discover the U of A

School Visits - UAlberta representatives visit high schools to talk to students about the University of Alberta. Students can learn more about the university, pick up a Viewbook, and get answers to your questions!

Postsecondary Fairs - UAlberta representatives will be attending post-secondary fairs in the fall, including those run by the Education Liaison Association of Alberta (ELAA) throughout Alberta and Canadian Universities Events (CUE) in Greater Vancouver and Vancouver Island. Please contact your school counsellor for more information about events at your high school.

Info Sessions - Info Sessions are an opportunity for high school students and their families to meet university and faculty representatives and learn about what the University of Alberta has to offer. 2015 dates will be posted at a later date - please check back!

Open House - The University of Alberta's annual Open House is a great way for prospective students and their families to discover everything the University of Alberta has to offer. Each year, thousands of future students and their families join us for a fun-filled day of workshops, presentations, exhibits, and tours! 2015 date will be posted soon - please check back!

Rural Discovery Day - Rural Discovery Day is a day-long event that introduces students from rural communities and their family members to the University of Alberta in person. Registration is required to attend this event. Next event: May 8, 2015

Explore UAlberta at the Calgary Centre - This event gives high school students in Calgary the opportunity to speak to our advisors and learn more about everything the U of A has to offer, including program options, admission requirements, scholarships and awards, and campus and residence options. Information Sessions will be held throughout the day. 2015 date will be posted soon - please check back!

Application Workshops - Get assistance applying for admission to the U of A! During Application Workshops, UAlberta staff advise students on the application process and help them complete and submit an online Application for Admission. Application Workshops for 2014 are now over - please check back!

After You've been admitted

Registration 101 Workshops - Registration 101 (or “Reg101”) Workshops allow students to attend a formal presentation outlining how to navigate the Bear Tracks system for the purpose of course selection and registration, build a first-year schedule, and ask UAlberta representatives registration questions. RSVP is required to attend Reg101 Workshops.

Student Loan 101 Workshops - The Office of the Registrar is pleased to host Student Loans 101 Workshops to help you navigate the student loan system. Attendees will apply for their Alberta Student Loan during the workshop!

Online Information Sessions - Chat online with our advisors!

  • General UAlberta online info sessions (program options, admission requirements, student life, etc.)

Online Group Chats - Online group chats are held once a month from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. (Mountain Time) and allow students to sign in from the comfort of their own home and ask real-time questions to University of Alberta advisors.
