The University of Alberta offers over 200 undergraduate programs across 17 faculties on five campuses. You can enter into the first year of most programs directly from high school (direct-entry programs), while other programs require you to complete pre-professional study before you can be admitted.

Each University of Alberta program has specific admission requirements that must be met, including academic subjects and entrance averages. Post-Secondary Transfer Students

Admission is available to students who have completed coursework at a university or college in Canada or abroad.

Non-Traditional Admissions

  • Nonmatriculated (mature) students: This category is available in some Faculties and programs for applicants who do not meet the normal admission criteria.
  • Special students: Students who have completed a previous university degree and wish to enrol in further undergraduate courses for professional development or to improve on the GPA for admission to another program.
  • Visiting students: Students enrolled at another university in a full-time undergraduate program may choose to attend the University of Alberta for one term or one academic year as a Visiting Student.
  • Open Studies students: Through Open Studies you can take university-level credit courses on a part-time basis without being admitted or committed to a degree or diploma program.
