DO WE HAVE TO RSVP OR REGISTER TO ATTEND OPEN HOUSE?
No, you do not need to RSVP or pre-register to attend Open House.
THE TOUR THAT I WANT TO PRE-REGISTER FOR IS FULL. CAN I STILL TAKE IT?
Yes, there will be plenty of space available beyond the pre-registration spots. Simply sign up at the Registration desk on the day of the event.
ARE THERE ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH ATTENDING OPEN HOUSE?
Open House and all related events are free to attend, and parking on North Campus and Campus Saint-Jean is free on the day of the event (on University-owned lots). Some beverages will be available free of charge in the Butterdome, while other food vendors will also be selling refreshments across campus.
I’M NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE U OF A CAMPUS. AM I GOING TO GET LOST?
We have plenty of directional signage, and a small army of staff and volunteers to guide you around campus! Start your day in the Butterdome, grab a program (which includes a campus map), and be sure to sign up for a campus tour!
You can also take a “walking shuttle” to get to your presentation or workshop. To join a walking shuttle, arrive at the Walking Shuttle desk, in Social Street, at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your event.
See also the section on Parking & Directions above.
CAN I CHANGE OR CANCEL MY PRE-REGISTRATION ONCE I’VE SIGNED UP?
Of course! In advance of Open House, please connect with us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 780.492.3113 or 1.855.492.3113 (toll free). We can quickly change your registration for you. On the day of Open House, please simply come to the Tour Registration booth and we will make the change right there.
CAN I PRE-REGISTER FOR PRESENTATIONS?
No. Although the seating in the lecture theatres is plentiful, presentations are first-come, first-served – so arrive early if you want to get a seat!
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CAMPUS TOUR, A RESIDENCE TOUR, AND A SUSTAINABILITY TOUR?
A campus tour is a 60-minute walking tour of North Campus, showcasing the many amazing buildings and facilities available to our students – plus lots of interesting historical facts! Dress for the weather, as this tour takes place mostly outdoors.
A residence tour is a 45-minute tour of Lister Hall, our first-year residence, including the dining hall and dormitories.
A sustainability tour, presented by the the Campus Visit program in partnership with the Office of Sustainability, is a 60-minute tour of North Campus highlighting many of the facilities and features on campus that make us one of the greenest universities in North America.
I AM UNABLE TO ATTEND OPEN HOUSE THIS YEAR. IS THAT MY ONLY CHANCE TO VISIT THE U OF A?
Not to worry – you can sign up for a campus visit any time of year! A campus visit, which includes both a tour and a personalized advising session, is an excellent way to discover everything the U of A has to offer, on your own time. Learn more >>
