Prospective students and their families are invited to attend Open House – the best way to discover everything the University of Alberta has to offer. Last year, over 7,000 people joined us for a fun-filled day of workshops, presentations, exhibits, and tours. This year, we're looking forward to seeing you here!

Plan Your Day at the U of A

Wanting to make the most of your day at Open House? Pre-register for a Campus and/or Lister Residence Tour and select the presentation(s) that are in high demand. Pre-registration for tours is recommended, but not mandatory.

To get the most out of your Open House experience, we encourage you to plan your day in advance. There are many workshops, presentations, and tours happening throughout the day, beginning at 9 a.m. Please note: No RSVP is required to attend Open House.

Open House Highlights

Campus tours: Take a tour of North Campus with a UAlberta student ambassador as your guide! Book your spot in advance online or sign up at the registration booth when you arrive.

Lister Residence tours: Join us for a 45 minute walking tour of Lister Hall, our traditional first-year dormitory, to experience an accurate and engaging view of what life is like as a resident at the University of Alberta.

Presentations: Don't know what you want to study? We offer dozens of general and program-specific presentations in classrooms throughout campus. Check the presentation schedule online and plan your day in advance.

Sustainability Campus tours: Join us to hear about the facts and features of the University of Alberta that make it one of the highest ranked universities in Canada for sustainability performance. Book your spot in advance online or sign up at the registration booth when you arrive.

Parking and directions


Free Parking

Parking is free on North Campus and Campus Saint-Jean all day during Open House! There are two parkades within walking distance of the Butterdome (Universiade Pavilion): Jubilee Car Park and Education Car Park.

Please note that free parking does not apply to reserved spots, or to private or city-owned lots on or off campus. Please obey posted signage to ensure that you don't get a ticket!

Carpool to Campus and Win!

The University of Alberta encourages everyone to use sustainable modes of transportation for your trip to Open House this year. This includes walking, biking, using public transportation, or carpooling to campus. If you travel to Open House using a more sustainable mode of transportation, you will be eligible to win one of three $100 gift cards, courtesy of the Office of Sustainability. For contest details please visit the Office of Sustainability booth during Open House.

Public Transit

Open House attendees are encouraged to take public transit to the University, which is well serviced by LRT and bus routes. The University and Health Sciences LRT stations are both within walking distance of the Butterdome, as is the main bus drop-off zone. Just follow the signs to Open House!

Construction Advisory

Please note that construction is ongoing at the corner of 87 Avenue and 114 Street, adjacent to the Butterdome. This construction will affect transportation and parking in the area. Please allow for additional travel time and obey all signs and directions. Thank you for your cooperation as we make improvements to serve students better!


Accessibility

The University of Alberta is committed to accessibility for all students and guests. Wheelchair access is available throughout all our facilities. Sign language interpreting services, realtime captioning, or other access-related services or accommodations can also be arranged.
