Entrance Averages

If you are applying to enter after your 12th year or equivalent, you must attain a minimum application average of 70% or higher (on a 50% pass scale), depending on the program you wish to apply to. However, for many programs higher competitive averages are required.

Possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

International students should view Competitive Averages for International Applicants.

Similarly, if you are entering with some post-secondary work, you will need to present an average of at least 2.0 on the University of Alberta 4-point grading scale ("C" or above) on university transferable work.

The chart below shows the high school Entrance Averages for Fall 2014. Admission averages change from year to year based on demand for the program, and final/competitive averages may not be set until later in the summer.

Note: The Early Admission averages for Fall 2014 are the current competitive averages. Final Admission averages may be different, however a Final Admission average will never be higher than the Early Admission average set for that program. Final Admission will be granted to students who complete the 5 required grade 12 courses and meet the competitive average determined by their program of choice. For more information, see the Early Admission page.
